The position requires a highly motivated, energetic, and analytical application support person to be part of the Ambulatory Clinical Informatics team. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Director of Ambulatory Clinical Informatics & OB/GYN Services and the CIS Support Analysts to (1) plan and coordinate Clinical Informatics activities and the client involvement in completion of related IS/Clinical tasks; (2) research, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve non-routine user-reported Cerner Millennium Power Chart application issues; (3) complete analysis required for modification and /or enhancement of Cerner Millennium Power Chart application; (4) provide end user support and training for frequently reported issues; (5) serve as a content expert, advocate and leader to evaluate information in developing information structures and systems to improve information management and communication, and (6) incorporate innovations into clinical practice and patient care. The successful candidate must have outstanding customer service and communication skills as well as excellent analytical and problem solving skills. These functions are performed in accordance with Baystate Health´s philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Responsibilities: The successful candidate must demonstrate and maintain expert-level knowledge of Cerner Millennium Power Chart application and clinical operational workflows and processes. Project Management: 50% Support and Maintenance 40% Testing 10% Project Management: Develops Health System clinical specifications for software development projects -- vendor based or internally developed systems by utilizing project work plans, project charters, status reports, issue management tools, and scope management tools. Measurements: *Project activities include system selection, system implementation and support of clinical informatics modules/applications. *Works with clinical teams to analyze process and workflow, identify improvement opportunities, and automate clinical documentation to create an electronic health record. *Participates in the conversion/implementation requirements. *Participates in the development and maintenance of the system wide project plan, issues log and status report. *Develops functional specifications that document current state functionality. *Develops future state functionality based on clinical/ancillary department requirements. *Develops gap analysis identifies with clinical leads workflow implications and plan. *Identifies end user learning needs, participate in the development of training documentation and curriculum, along with the training department resources develop & coordinate an effective clinical educational plan and implementation, and, if necessary, assist in the training of both new and current applications. *Participates in the development of policies and procedures to support system functionality and workflow. *Plans and manages timely execution of deliverables and project completion. *Manages client expectations to realize satisfaction with outcomes. *Escalates project delays and roadblocks as appropriate. *Communicates recommendations for system modifications and enhancements to Ambulatory Clinical Informatics and CIS Team to respond to end user needs. *Partners with members of the interdisciplinary team modeling effective communication and collaboration skills. *Serves as a content expert, advocate and leader to evaluate information and assist others in developing information structures and systems to improve information management and communication, and incorporate innovations into clinical practice and patient care. *Accepts challenges, seeks feedback and readily seeks assistance when needed to effectively manage desired deliverables. *Performs other responsibilities as needed under the direction of the Director of Ambulatory Clinical Informatics & OB/GYN Services Support and Maintenance:Receives and responds to support calls from clients Measurements: *Clients are satisfied with level of support, which is timely and well communicated. *Issues are effectively researched, documented, communicated and escalated. *Researches and responds to non-routine customer requests for CIS application support. *Documents both customer issues and issue resolution in problem tracking software, identifies trends and training opportunities and provides training intervention as needed. *Develops client relationships by ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues and if unable to resolve, collaborates with colleagues to correct the core problem. *Provides assistance to end users to develop competency and problem solve clinical information systems. Testing: Performs and monitors unit/system/function testing: *Participates in unit testing and integrated system testing. *Participates in preparing integrated test scripts and integrated test cycles. *Insures the accuracy/thoroughness of problem identification and resolution. *Effectively monitors issues *Works with clients on user-acceptance testing.Qualifications: Current user of Cerner Millennium Power Chart with in-depth knowledge of the application required. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse or related Health Care Field. Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in ambulatory setting required. Bachelors Degree is required from accredited college or university additional relevant business and information systems experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelors Degree. Preferred experience and depth of knowledge in ambulatory nursing practice and healthcare information system environment.
