As part of the Content Management Team, the Web Content Specialist will create, acquire, aggregate, manage, coordinate, and proof all web content for onTargetjobs Web sites and e-mail newsletters. The Web Content Specialist will use a Content Management System to control and maintain all healthcare and scientific research stories on a daily basis and will be accountable for the quality and quantity of Web site content contained in the production databases. Examples of onTargetjobs brands include BioSpace.com, MedHunters.com, and HealtheCareers.com. The Web Content Specialist position will be based in the Financial District of San Francisco and will report to the Sr. Director of Content. Essential Job Functions* News aggregation and tight publishing deadlines start from 5:00am PT - 2:00pm PT.* Research and aggregate healthcare and scientific research stories from more than 1,000 sources for our niche brands.* Review, add, categorize, and rank 100 stories per day in our Content Management System (intense data entry).* Manage the creation and/or aggregation of content in accordance with Web site and Newsletter schedule (up to 200 stories per day and 87+ newsletters per month).* Clear copyright for the use of any existing content.* Use metadata and other methods to optimize search engine positions.* Respond to user enquiries, comments, and suggestions.* Moderate forums / chat sessions.* Edit and/or approve content contributions made by users.* Edit copy received from additional content contributors.* Update and maintain time-sensitive material.* Edit content using basic html.* Edit images for the web by using Photoshop.* Other tasks related to on-going management of our Web sites and newsletters.Basic Knowledge Requirements /Qualifications* BS/BA or equivalent experience in Healthcare or Scientific Research preferred but not required.* Minimum of two (2) years experience using scientific databases (e.g. PubMed).* Minimum of two (2) years experience using the Internet to research news, events, and other facts.* Minimum of one (1) year experience using data entry applications and/or content management systems.* Experience holding a position of trust (once trained, this person will have direct editing access to our public facing Web sites and newsletters).* Working knowledge and experience using social media tools and related Web applications.* Experience using the AP Stylebook.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).* Basic experience using Dreamweaver and Photoshop.* Basic experience using HTML.* Extremely detail-oriented.* Works efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines.* Follows directions and procedures.* Self-motivated and enjoys doing tasks independently.* Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.* Solid teamwork skills.* Strong work ethic.* Writing experience is a plus.* Background in healthcare preferred.The preceding job description documents the general nature and level of work but is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all activities, duties and responsibilities required of job incumbents.
