@hatta: ... And I thought being independent is a right for humankind...
@maeda: *yawns*
@soekarno: Would somebody please hand me some bricks to throw?

@hatta: So. Ikada? Naaah, didn't think so :|
@soekarno: ... And now my house is going to be a part of history.
@soekarno: Need to ask my wife to find the flag that she made several days ago. @fatmawati, have you woke up yet?
@hatta: OTW to @soekarno's house.
@soekarno: A little bit lunatic at my house :|
@soekarno: Going giddy about reading a thing that would change this nation's history forever.
@hatta: @soekarno - Hey, you can do it.
@soekarno: Feeling instant pride deep inside. I will never get tired of it. "Proklamasi..."
@hatta: You know that feeling of pride and awesomeness? Yeah, I'm on it now.
@wikana: @soekarno - WHOAH! CONGRATULATIONS!
@darwis: @soekarno @hatta - GOOD WORK! CONGRATS!
@chaerulsaleh: FREEDOM! FREEDOM FOR ALL!
@sutansjahrir: Just screamed out loud "FREEDOM!" outside. As Archimedes said it, "EUREKA!"
@soekarno: Still humming 'Indonesia Raya'

Thanks to Wikipedia for the information :)

P.S. My friend asked me how did I write this down - whether I giggling or not. I told him that I wrote it by remembering my History class, reading the article at Wikipedia and asking myself "what would my Twitter and Plurker friends will write?" :D

And yes, I giggled :D

[English] The Most Democratic Of All

Were there a people of gods, their government would be democratic. So perfect a government is not for men.

- Jean Jacques Rousseau

We're living the era of gods and goddesses. I'm not saying that we're going back to Ancient Greek or Ancient Egypt (although the history about those two civilizations fascinates me a lot,) but looking from Rousseau's words, I should put my opinion that we're living in that kind of world now. Who are the gods and goddesses? We are.

Well, okay, I couldn't say that ALL of us in this surface of the Earth being included in this group. I should say us, the Netizens. We who contribute and take something out from the Internet. We the producers and the consumers at the Internet. We who uploading our pictures to Flickr, downloading our songs from iTunes and so on.

Different way of communicating, different way of behaving.

The Internet is the most democratic media of all time -- and totally going further from McLuhan's 'hot and cold media'. The Internet is rich with all the data and information, be it from a company's income statement to someone else's picture of wedding party. And the nice part of it is, we could join the group.

The Internet is changing people's way to communicate. Before the Internet had its breakthrough to the public, the two-ways communication is accomplished by telephone. Both parties in different places could give input and take output. However, the system alone is quite limited. Not all people could have conversation with 2 people or more via the phone without getting much hassles in it.

The Internet, the advanced form of the telephone - no matter how savvy the medium looks, all communication's media is going back to the most basic thing that Alexander Graham Bell once invented. The phone - changes all that. Not only delivering voices via the Internet through VoIP (Voice over IP), but we also could share pictures, videos, texts and many more. Best thing of it? We could do it simultaneously with limited or no hassles at all.

From the people, by the people, for the people.

Picture yourself in imaginary world when you're connected to the Net. You wouldn't have only one or two cables that going out from your body. Oh no sweet Jove, you will have thousands of cables going out from your head and body. You take and give, you send and receive, you read and write, you upload and download.

In short, everybody in the Internet have the power to say something, no matter how small it is. Especially with help from Google to sniffing around and finding something that you really need.

You, people, you have the power to talk. You have the ability to say out loud what is on your mind.

Vox populi vox Dei. Return the voice of the Lord to its rightful position to make differences and better condition for all of us.

P.S. This is what happened after you watched 'V for Vendetta' for three times in a row. You're lucky I didn't say "A for Anarchy" yet :P

[English] Die another day...
Filled with vengeance after I tagged him regarding boobs post, Fajar asked, um, forced me to join the horde regarding writing an entry that inspired from title of a song that listed at his blog.

So, where do we start?

I don't know where should I start but maybe I think this will be a good opportunity for me to talk about a thing that always staying inside my mind since Beijing Olympic 2008.

When I watched the Olympics, somehow I said this to my brother.

"You see, I have this special admiration with those athletes who didn't win the game at all. Those who came at the fourth, fifth, sixth.. Or even the last one that touched the finish line."

My brother asked me why, then I replied, "because they have such great determination, courage and discipline to think 'to Hell with a thing called loss. I might not win today, but definitely I will come back. I will practice better and represent my country and nation proudly at Olympics'."

You see, that kind of thing is goddamn hard. In this world where we always being 'trained' and got this 'understanding' where we should be number one in everything, we always see a thing called 'loss' as something disgraceful, humiliating and shameful.

How if that 'loss' is not an actual loss?

In fact, if you get the one that you really want, doesn't mean that you will be happy with it. For example, you wish like crazy to become a hip-hop artist just because you see those glam and bling. Then one day, your dream come true. You're a hip-hop artist. But then, are you going to be happy with your life as an artist? I highly doubt it. You might feel lonely because you have such a tight schedule where you couldn't meet your family and friends, you will be stressed out with the events and drama, and don't forget papparazzi.

A thing that matters most is the fact that if you failed or lose, you have your guts to wake up again and face the whole world once again.

In fact, I don't think that if the world really care whether you win or not. Sure that the world might laugh at you when you failed (hey, it's called LIFE) but they will forget about it and they don't even care when you're winning. So what's the big deal? Winning is in your own heart. When you failed then you start to wake up and try again, trust me, you didn't fail. You win.

So, to sum it all up, you will find another way. You will see that there's so much more to know. Don't worry, you will not die now. You will die another day because it's not your time to go. Yet.

Because I hope one day, we could see straight to the Heaven and said to God, "hey, nice sense of humor" ;)

This entry is inspired by Madonna's 'Die Another Day'. I am tagging Wanna and Chibialfa to write. You could refer to this list :) Happy writing girls :D

[English] Indonesia Blogger Day

With a very nice coincidence, I'm wearing my 'Ngeblog Bukan Tren Sesa(@)t' that I got from Dag Dig Dug Party today :D

Yes yes, Happy Blogger Day guys :) It's Blogger Day now in Indonesia.

So, the question: What blogging means to me.

Lets go backwards for a moment. I started to blog officially (here in this blog) at July 2004. A thing that started with personal entries, random rants and (literally) cursing words here and there now matured - uh, I hope so - with general topics about social, economics and nationwide-issue.

So, how important is a blog for me?

Quite important. Because I could saying out loud about my thoughts and opinions. I also meet some good friends here *waves to Snydez, Hafiz, Arya, Macchi, Fajar and Chandra*

And some people even recognized me more by my online screen name - 'Kappachan/Kapkap/Kap' - rather than my real name. LOL.

Oh, and this blog. Yeah, THIS blog also my guru in teaching me about web design. Some of you might remember the days when you saw my blog's layout changing rapidly :P I learn CSS and HTML by myself and some tutorials and implement the stuffs here. And not to mention the notorius 'Blog Curse' XD Blog Curse is a curse that, interestingly, happened on me randomly. It could be broken layout, missing links or missing entry :P Thank God the curse didn't come to me again recently :D

Here in this blog, I also learn to improve my English. Some of the readers are quite Grammar NAZIs and they tend to correct some grammatical errors. Thanks a lot guys :)

Okay. So, letsee... Freedom of speech, meeting good friends, a teacher in web design and improvements in English. Stuffs that you couldn't get in most of the places :)

Happy Blogger Day, my blogs :D I love you guys *huggiezzzz*

Oh, and guys! Guys! I always link you back every time you left your comment here. But no, not in this blog (although I'm thinking of putting the links back here again) but at my other personal blog. If you want to swap link, don't hesitate to tell me :) Thanks :)

[English] ... And today, a talk about boobs.
No. This is not me.

I should tell you that Twitter is pretty much evil.

So, @treespotter just tagged me in his evil plan to talk about boobs since he hasn't got Miyabi's yet.

And talking about boobs, so I should talk about it since yeah, I have boobs - lets just say, an insider's perspective. LOL.

In other words, I'm a girl.

So where were we? Oh yeah, boobs.

Anyhoo, I think I should talk about recent conversation between my friend and I about boobs yesterday (cute coincidence eh? A talk about a particular topic and the next day I blog about it) when we talked about the size.

Thanks to the media, some men have this wishful thinking about boobs. For them, minimum size should be B-cup. No less than that. More than B-cup, that would be pretty okay for them. While majority of Indonesian girls, we have A-cup boobs.

However, if we should ask to the girls themselves, some of them think that it's better to have smaller boobs compared to the big ones. Why? Girls with big boobs tend to feel uneasy whenever they walk at the street, thanks to the wolf whistles and those predator eyes that keep looking at them. Somehow girls are wishing to have smaller boobs so men wouldn't look at them in such lustful eyes.

And come on, no supermodels got big boobs. They are as skinny as Hell. Heck, me myself as a girl even wondering whether they have breasts or not.

If you're asking about my boobs, lets just say that I have average size of boobs in normal standard of Indonesians. My boobs aren't that visible due to guy-like outfit. I love to wear loose shirts and jackets. Some strangers stared at me to make sure whether I'm a girl or a guy. Just like the one that I have explained at this tweet.

Anyway, why boobs look interesting in the eyes of men? Because men didn't have boobs. Well, yeah, they MIGHT have it but not as big as ours, women :D

Clearly they haven't heard a thing called 'breast cancer'... *gets bricked*

Anyway, my friend said this at Twitter:
if I had a pair of boobs,I'd touch myself
Then I replied:
I have boobs. And I barely touch it. I mean, once you got the stuffs, somehow you didn't get interested anymore :D
So, men, don't get your wishful thinking going too high, 'kay? :D Sometimes when you finally got what you always dreaming of, you didn't get that much interest anymore :D

Add up. I would like to tag @aulia, @fajarjasmin and @leonniefm for this post :P

[English] Okay, this one makes me THINK and asking myself questions.
First off this is the original entry by Seth Godin.

And yes, now I'm asking the question. Once I tried to put dollar/rupiah/any money currency-sign to my hobby, will it be the same with what I have done so far?

I keep stressing to myself that the most important thing in doing your job is about passion. Never ever do the job only for the sake of the money because in the end you would end up doing mediocre things. 'Good enough'-stuffs. And stuffs as 'good enough'-stuffs never good.

If you're doing it because you are having your passion in it, you could excel yourself and you could give everything that you got.

I love these words:
On the other hand, poets don't get paid. Even worse, poets that try to get paid end up writing jingles and failing and hating it at the same time.
I think it would be everybody's - be it blogger, artist, writer, etc - nightmare. When you end up doing a thing that you hate. All in sudden everything seemed blank and you no longer recognize the fun. You do the thing because you have to, not because you want to.

I've been in that condition. Heck, I even at it right NOW.

I love to read. When this division told me that my hobby could be something that I would gain some money out of it (doing research, analyzing data, reading stuffs) I accepted it eagerly.

But I'm not happy about it.

I do it reluctantly day by day. I read research reports because I have to no matter how interesting the article was. I have this pet peeves with my supervisor and I constantly wishing that I didn't have to go to the office. And in the end, suddenly I realized that I didn't read books and articles as much as I used to.

Furthermore:
And the twist, because there is always a twist, is that as soon as you focus on your art and leave the money behind, you may just discover that this focus turns out to be the secret of actually breaking through and making money.
I think that's the solution. Lighting up again the old flame. Re-love your hobby/passion/whatever.

Re-focus and stick with it.

[English] To make things better. At least for now.
When I told my friend that I'm joining Blog Action Day 2008 with the theme of 'Poverty', she laughed and told me,"I believe you have many stuffs to say because Indonesia is a day-to-day poverty."

Such a cruel irony, eh?

So, why poverty at Indonesia? How come such thing as poverty ever exist in Indonesia, a country with rich resources?

I kinda familiar with this poverty issue because: 1.) I use public transportation daily and the image isn't very pleasant I tell you that. I see the worst part of humanity, but sometimes, the best part also. 2.) My neighbor is a poor family.

First off, the corruption. Oh admit it, Indonesia is rich with natural resources that lead people to corrupt it. And a thing called corruption is never good for anybody. A thing that rob not only our wealth but also our soul. Such a philosophical thing but save it for the next issue, shall we?

Second, the geographical condition. Indonesia is an archipelago where one island is far from another. And by mean 'far', I mean by 'sea'. A pretty condition eh? And that kind of thing makes the distribution of nation's wealth being uneven.

Third, the mental of the poor. Okay okay, I won't be Nice Guy this time. I just want to say everything out. And by mean 'out', I mean LOUD. Most of poor people in Indonesia are lazy. Period. When they think that they could get help from other people or government without doing anything, they WILL NOT DO anything. As simple as that.

So, how to overcome this?

If we put our fate at the hands of government, we are more idiotic that the government itself. Puh-lease, the government is idiot already (who wouldn't be an idiot for publishing personal information about students all over Indonesia at the world wide web? Thanks, genius) and we are more idiotic than them if we always relying ourselves to them. So yeah, start it by ourselves first.

So, back to the question, how?

I'll start. I give spare money for the poor outside. Hey, deep down here I'm still a human, thank you. Yeah, I will always be your lovely cruel heartless goddamn arrogant be-yotch, but then I still have this tiny little thing called 'heart', thank you. But then, I'm very picky with this thing. I only give money to those who has rights to earn it. Physically-disabled people, for instance.

Other than that? Nope. If I got some food left (which I doubt it would happen everyday for me myself always craving for food) I will give it to the street children rather than giving them money. Why? Here in Jakarta, there's this story about 'mafia' who controls the beggars here. Yes, it's highly operated. So these little kids who beg out there at the street will transfer their money to the mafia. Well, sort of that. Or - as my bro witnessed it - the kids use it to buy drugs or play games at Playstation Rentals and they play "games that very destructive for kids at their age. Grand Theft Auto. A game which filled with violence, bad values and sex. Way to go social people. You just gave a ticket to the younger generation for the future of doom" - that's how my bro said it.

If you give them food or clothes, that would be good because basically it's useful to them and small chances of them to re-sell it again. Much likely they will use it right away.

Me personally already quite proud with some people out there that willing to serve the community by having free school for street children. Not only the children could study, but also having education means better future for them :) I remember several weeks ago I watched news at TV and the news reported that the poverty level in Jakarta is around 9% or so.

Don't get me wrong on this, but I think 9% is 'quite' a number. Quite good, and quite bad. Quite good because we're still below 10% (because when the number hits 10%, it means all Hells break loose) but then it's also quite bad because damnit, we are going to hit 10%. Something needs to be done. Fast.

Indonesia government alone has this program called BLT - Bantuan Langsung Tunai - Direct Cash Support - for poor people in needs. However, the first phase - BLT 1 - didn't went as successfully as hoped. It even ended in chaos. Why? Because the distribution still uneven. Hopefully for the next BLT program (BLT 2), it will be something better with better distribution and make sure that the money goes to those who really need it.

Therefore my own opinion in order to make things better - I couldn't say that this kind of thing will eliminate poverty completely. When we're talking about poverty here in Indonesia, we're talking such a big issue - we should make sure that we're giving the right stuffs to the right people. If you think that giving hard cash money to poor (but lazy) people is bad, then don't do it (although this thing is pretty risky tho. Some people even try to rob or threat.) Give something that they could use but they couldn't use it further than that. Food, for instance :)

[Bahasa Indonesia] You are where you sit
Just want to speak up my mind out loud.

Tapi apa nilai mereka amburadul? Ga juga.

Mereka cerdas. Banget.

Ributnya, huih, bukan main. Adaaaa aja yang jalan-jalan, lempar-lemparan kertas, nanya-nanya hal ga penting.

But then, they have some good and rare qualities in life. They have values, they have good principals and they understand perfectly the hardships in life. They are not your ordinary spoiled brat - well, some of them are - however, it's hard to find people like them.

Beri mereka rasa tanggung jawab, beri mereka kepercayaan dan entertain them.

Dia ngeluh kenapa mahasiswa ga pernah dengerin dia and he practically blames the students.

Dan saya tau ni dosen gaya ngajarnya gimana :P And it's not a pleasant experience, I tell you.

[English] Dunno whether I should rejoice or not...
Last three months, my younger sister went to Osaka, Japan for her vacation. Not only vacation, she also managed to have part time job there for her university's Internship program requirement. One time I told her, "woah. Internship at Osaka, Japan! You could say 'IN YER FACE' in front of your classmates. LOL."

When she finally back to Jakarta, Indonesia last month, she told me a lot of good stories about Japan. She told me how discipline the people are, how clean the places are and many good things that you couldn't find here at Indonesia. Oh, Indonesia will need a decade or two in order to keep up with Japan and during that time, Japan already ten times better than us :P

However, funny though, she told me this.

"I should say that Japanese' live is kinda... Bland. You see, they come to the office, working as hard as they could then go home. All day long. All week long. All month long. While us, Indonesians, always got something funky in our daily life. Accept it, our life as Indonesian never been the most 'ordinary' ones."

Good grief. LOL.

So here I'm asking myself: Which one is better; being Japanese or Indonesian? :P

During my past internship program, I was in this company called - I believe all of you already knew it - Panasonic. And yes, I have Japanese people as my supervisor. PEOPLE. Not just ONE supervisor, but TWO supervisors.

And I should say that I was, um, pretty stressed out :P

During my internship, my main job task was to design a new design and layout for the company's (foundation, to be exact - I wasn't in Panasonic per se. I was in its education foundation) marketing tool.

So yeah, I was the designer. And designers - IMHO - never been in quite appropriate condition. I could be worse :P Every time I'm in my 'working mood' I would take off my shoes, sat cross-legged at my chair and listening to loud music with coffee.

Aaaaand my supervisor didn't really like it. LOL.

It was quite hard, really :P To align your 'creative' mind with their 'appropriate' mind. But then, I must say that in that kind of harsh discipline the Japanese could excel in many things.

Indonesians are more happy-go-lucky :D 'Come what may but then don't expect me to tackle all the things that come to me.' We are the best in dillying and dallying :P

But then, in term of stress at workplace, although I haven't got the formal result nor did any research on it, I should say that we the Indonesians are the more happier chap compared to our buddies at Japan.

Then my sister asked me, "would you leave Indonesia if you have the chance to do it?"

My answer was: Of course. Maybe I will leave this Pit of Hell. But then, I will always come back for a good nasi putih panas with sambel terasi and ikan asin :D

Short announcement and WTF 'mudik' is :P
Okay okay, I think this place will be kind-of 'dual-lingua' blog. Why? I feel guilty, damnit. Some of you might remember that once this place was full-English speaking blog. With grammatical errors here and there. O such a haven for you Grammar NAZIs.

That was the reason why I changed this blog into Bahasa Indonesia-written blog - the grammatical errors - and I couldn't express myself, um, better with English. But then, some of the readers are from outside Indonesia/non-Bahasa Indonesia speaking countries and they practically are being left in the dark.

While in order to conquer t3h world, I have to spread the brainwash process wide and large.

Okay, SO! Mein comrades. This place going to have two languages :D

Okay. So... What am I going to talk about?

Hmm, the trend of 'mudik'? :P

First off, what is mudik (noun. Or verb. Well, it could be both)? Literally it could be said as 'going back to the hometown'. This kind of thing is such a HUGE trend in Indonesia. Believe me. Happens ONLY IN INDONESIA. Usually it happened during Eid Mubarak (since Indonesia is a country with the biggest Muslim population) and for may people, Eid Mubarak without going home and meeting the whole family (or the whole kampoeng/village) is NOT Eid Mubarak.

And the impact is huge. Some news event dedicated solely to report this mudik process. Those many people that stuck at harbors, airports or train stations, those traffic jams, those accidents... If you don't have mudik in your country and you want to imagine what mudik looks like, imagine 'Independence Day' movie during the exodus. That's mudik :P And it happens ANNUALLY, oh yes I have such a very funny country. LOL.

Well, the problem with this mudik-thingy is that, some people think that mudik is such an obligation. No matter what the cost. Yes, no matter what it takes. Even some people steal or rob others in order to collect money so they could go back to their hometown.

Very ironic. And pathetic.

Even the government advised the people that if some couldn't go back to their hometown, don't push it too hard then. What's wrong of having Eid Mubarak at Jakarta? :D Heck, during Eid Mubarak and mudik session, Jakarta is empty as North Pole! Well. Sort of. Only the main roads which are empty. Some of them are still crowded as usual.

So yeah, that's one of Indonesia's many funky events. We have this many things that being called as 'part of the culture' but then, that's the uniqueness of Indonesia :P

Happy Eid Mubarak everyone :D

Ya gimana ya mbak... Abis angkotnya sensitif sih...
Angkot itu buat saya itu benci tapi rindu, hehe. Benci banget kalo ngetem, huuu, lama banget.

Saya? Hoh, Kappa mah ndak nyopet. Lha wong Kappa itu raja copetnya.

Tapi kok ya saya tetep cinta angkot ye, hehe. Seru aja gitu.

Kasarnya kan, why should I spend my hard-earned money to such a lazy ass like you? Gitu deh kira-kira.

Abis angkotnya sensitif sih. Kalo dinaikin orang yang males kerja, bisanya ngemis ga jelas dan malak, angkotnya PASTI ngadat. Maaf ya mbak."

Astaga, saya udah pengen ngakak rasanya. Apalagi ekspresi pak supirnya.

Horeee. Tuh kan, pas orangnya turun, baru bisa jalan deh, hehehe."

Aduh, 'hehehe'nya itu lho :D Gak tahan, ada penumpang yang ketawa ngakak. Sampe turun juga tu orang masih cekikikan.

Terus ada orang yang nanya ke pak supirnya, "mas, ga takut ntar tu pengemis ngancem mas? Malak atau apa gitu..."

Pak supirnya terkekeh terus ngomong, "ah ga lah.

Yah, liat aja deh kenyataan.

By God, we need it. Badly.

... Kok kaya kenal ya sama tempat kaya gitu? :P

I hate it when people said that corruption is unavoidable in Indonesia. That we are being indiscipline. People keep saying that "it's in the blood". No. It's not in my blood. I refuse to believe it. Why Indonesia becoming like this is because people BELIEVE that it's in our blood and they do nothing to change it since they think it's useless. And I REFUSE to believe it.

IT'S NOT IN MY BLOOD. NOT IN MY FLESH. NOT IN MY BONE.

IT'S NOT IN MY SOUL.

And by God, I will prove it.

I could dream, rite? :D
Last nite I went to a small retail store with my brother.

We walked through the Syahdan street around BiNus Anggrel-Syahdan. And for long, I always nicknamed that street as 'Hell Junction'.

Not only it is REALLY REALLY crowded, there are so many cars and motorcycles there. To tell you the truth, I kind of worrying my brother every time he's going out using his bicycle.

I always wondering, why on Earth people won't use bicycle here in Indonesia?

First thing first, it's pretty much unsafe. Well, not because of the bike that it becomes unsafe. It's like my brother said it, "rite. We are trying our best to keep ourselves AND others safe. But how about other people? We have those braindead megalomaniacs imbeciles assholes who are being egoists, breaking all the traffic rules and put others in harm." Yep. Especially with those motorcycle riders who think that they are in a sort-of racing circuit with maximum speed without thinking about other people's safety.

Secondly, the pollution. No need to tell you about the pollution in Jakarta :P Going out once without proper preparation, you coudl sign yourself to Death certificate.

While funny though, my friend once told me this: If the government made 'bicycle way', you know, a line on the street specifically for bicycles, it might attract many people to use bicycle though...

Hmm, could I dreaming about a day when finally Jakarta is free from pollution and annoying drivers? :D

China. What they couldn't create?
Last nite my classmate showed me his cellphone that he bought at China. He told me that he bought it just because 'out of curiosity'. LOL. Anyway, this entry will be short. Everything will be explained using pics :D

Hmm, what do you think? Both of them are pack of cigarettes, rite?

Nothing suspicious about this one, rite? :D

E? What's that? ... Is that a camera? Why would a pack of cigarettes has a camera? AND HOW?

It's... It's... It's a.. Cell phone???

Inside of the Marlboro-phone :D

So now we could see the differences... :D

Inside the Marlboro-phone, again :D Yes, that's the place for the battery :D

It could work properly :) Oh, and it has camera (as seen before) and it could play MP3 and MP4. Kewl :D

Depa! Depa! Depa!
DEPAPEPE!

First time I knew about this duo from Japan was from my brother, Yudo. He gave me Depapepe's MP3, titled 'Sabamba'. "The song is very nice. Very upbeat and uplifting."

And in an instant, I fell in love :D

As being explained impressively by Depapepe Mania -
In November 2002, Tokuoka Yoshinari and Miura Takuya (both are from Kobe) formed Depapepe. The band's name was cobbled together by combining the Japanese word for 'overbite', 'deppa', because of Miura's overbite, and the name of Tokuoka's previous band 'Derupepe'.
It was said that the duo went all over Japan as 'street musician'. A VERY talented 'street musician', in my opinion. No wonder they got so many fans. Including some in Indonesia :D

Depapepe's songs mainly upbeat and very summer-y. For me myself, I personally love 'Sunshine Surf!!' and 'Marine Drive'. Every time I'm listening to those songs, I always remember about my hometown :D My hometown is very near to the sea and most of Depapepe's songs are easily associated with seas, mountains, summertime or happy people :) Really. You couldn't help yourself to run and enjoy the nature every time you listen to Depapepe's songs :D

Depapepe's songs also act as my psychiatrist. LOL. Or I could say as 'stress-release'. The tunes are really catchy and could give you happy feeling :)

Anyway, there is this one song from Depapepe that when I listened to it at the first time, I couldn't help myself shrieked in such a fangirl mode, "DAFT PUUUUUNKKKKKK!!!!!" The song is 'Viva! Jump!' and during the reff (or bridge?) Depapepe (maybe) took the sample from Daft Punk's 'Crescendolls'.

Ah, and don't forget to listen 'GIGIO2' from 'Hop! Skip! Jump!' album. The trumpet section is really cute :D

I wish that they could have a world tour and visit Indonesia :)

Just in case if you're interested, I recommend you several Depapepe's songs for first-time listeners :) You could listening to:

Twitterverse
Opening Note. I know that this entry would be soooooooo outdated compared to other geeks that already posted about Twitter YEARS ago. However, some people in Indonesia didn't know about Twitter yet and my friends still asking me "what is Twitter?" So yeah, I wrote this to answer the question and hopefully to refresh your mind, fellow tweeters, and bring back those sweet memories in Twitterverse :D

First time I knew about Twitter was July last year. During that time, although some people confirmed that I am a geek, I wasn't this geeky when first I knew about Twitter :D I didn't even knew anything about microblogging and Twitter with its 140-characters limit is quite cute in my opinion.

Twitter is a microblogging service where people could update their status/condition (with Twitter asking 'What are you doing?') and unlike blogging service, the characters that people could use is limited to 140 characters.

Interesting enough, although Twitter limits its character apparently it is the main attractive point in tweeting (writing entry to your Twitter) and it is goddamn addictive.

In Jakarta alone, we have this thing called Jakarta Tweeters. It's not about being exclusive, it's just about dividing the tweeters geographically because we have this thing called Tweeters Meet Up. Jakarta Tweeters alone already had 2-3 meet ups before and the last one (July) was a great success with total 11-12 people came. Jakarta Tweeters is open for every tweeter that resides in Jakarta, whether you are an Indonesian or simply bule that stranded here in this chaotic city :P

Anyway, these are some pictures from our last Meet Up :) Compiled from May and July Meet Up (we didn't held June Meet Up due to some constraints) -

Anyway, you could follow me at Twitter :) This is my ID at Twitter. See you there :D

Ah, and Jakarta Tweeter will have Meet Up at 17 August 2008 to watch Wall.E at Senayan City. Pop in if you like, tweeters! :D

Bike To Work?
For some of you who know my personal stories at Random Thoughts (in Bahasa), you might realized that hopefully by the end of this month (or, maybe, God forbids, next month) I will move.

My parents eventually bought a house for their children here so my siblings and I could live under one roof. In a way, if our parents want to visit us, we could meet together.

Anyway, several days ago my mum called. She is concerned with the fact that I should walk for some distance from our house to the main street in order to take a public transportation. I told her that it's okay for me, but then as many mothers always feel, she didn't really sure about it. So then she told me that she will bring me a bicycle.

"You could use the bicycle up to the main street and put it at one of small restaurants there, ask them to take care of it. So you don't have to walk all the way."

After that, my friend asked me, "why don't you just put it at BiNus Anggrek, Kap?" Hey, nice idea

And then, this idea occurred inside my mind.

'How if I use that bicycle from home to work/campus?'

And in this real world at Jakarta, Indonesia, that would be such a daring idea. Daring, in term of the fact that 80% of Jakarta's air consisted of pollution. Not only to mention the people who drive carelessly.

This kind of thing disappoints me. Funny thing here is that, when the price of gasoline increased, the amount of auto-vehicles in Jakarta stays the same, or if not, increasing. Funny thing eh? Just like my friend once said that Jakarta is a 'city with two faces'. "During the day, people are queuing for primary needs such as rice and stuffs. During the evening, they are queuing for sale at Zara, Debenhams and Metro..."

Although I should say that some people are reducing their usage in private auto-vehicle by using public transportation but then if we should see it from the eye of the public, the condition here is not really enthusiastic. Many people who use public transportation complained about the lack of quality of the vehicles and the low safety of using the public transportation. It's being long known here in Jakarta that most of bus driver here drive like they are DUI or something like that (DUI = Driving Under Influence) and for a person who always use public transportation like me, I could help nothing but agree with the opinion.

The most top-notch public transportation here in Jakarta is Transjakarta busway. A program of Jakarta's ex-governor, Sutiyoso, about a clean and safe public transportation at Jakarta. Unlike other public buses, Transjakarta has its own line at the street and special bus-stops. This million-dollar-worth-of project is still on its ongoing phase and you could even see some new bus shelters being built up. However, it's not without its limitations. Transjakarta is very useful and accomodative, alright, but then apparently for the time being the supply of the buses itself with the demand by the passengers is still unmet. Many people have to queue for the bus and fight themselves in order to get into the bus (which kind of reminding me with Tokyo's subway during rush hour from many comic books that I read  ) So yes, having a trip or commute at Jakarta using public transportation is not a very pleasant experience.

Although, although, funny though, I kinda miss public transportation  During my times at Senayan, it's very rare of me to use public bus and now I miss it

Anyway, back to the main idea.

Should I use bicycle to work or not?

I miss them...
Today is Saturday and I decided to put off some not-so-serious topic (like this blog always have serious content inside. Ha.)

Today's entry even filled with pictures.

Me: "What would you feel if I have a boyfriend?"

Yudo: "Actually it's quite OK with me. But I really want to kill your boyfriend, if you have any. WHAT? LIKE I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF YOU? I KNOW YOU BETTER! FOR MY ENTIRE GODDAMN LIFE! I KNOW YOU FOR 20 YEARS!"

Widya: "Any guy who has any GUTS to stand beside you HAVE TO FACE US. Nuff said."

I love you guys
