VietNamNet Bridge – A Vietnamese man said he had two grenades in his luggage while checking onto a flight of Vasco from Con Dao Island to HCM City. Though security workers didn’t find any weapons, this passenger will be forever denied service by all Vietnamese airlines under the aviation law of Vietnam.
Vietnam Airlines cancels flight because of bomb threat
On September 23, after fulfilling check-in formalities and going to the security check area at Co Ong Airport on Con Dao Island in Kien Giang province, a passenger named Duong Tien Thanh told his friend who was also taking the same flight that there were two grenades in his luggage.
Security guards at the airport heard that information. They immediately took Thanh aside to check him. They also inspected this passenger’s luggage very carefully and reported the case to local police.
Though no weapon was found in this man’s luggage, he still has to stay on Con Dao for further investigation.
A representative of the Vietnam Air Service Company (Vasco) said that this case would be dealt with under the law of Vietnam after the investigation finished. The company will also consider losses caused by his act and it may sue the joker.
Under the Vietnam Aviation Law, Thanh will receive a lifetime ban from flying on local airlines.
