Classic Game Remake: iRepton[ 6 Comments ] 9:10 PST | jrhunt | Print NewsRemember Repton? Of course you do! However, for those that weren't lucky enough to cross paths with the heroic lizard back in the old days of the BBC B Micro, there's now an iPhone version of that classic puzzler in the Boulderdash tradition. iRepton was one of the fastest selling games of its era, so there's a lot to live up to!
Ordinarily, we wouldn't announce a simple iPhone remake, but having had a look at this one, it's pretty special - almost a shot-for-shot remake of the original - with updated graphics, of course. It's probably the closest you can get to having the original Repton on your iPhone, and thus worth the attention of any of you Apple-fans out there!
More information can be found at the iRepton website!
Head here for more info and to order while supplies last.

Atari releases new console....[ Comment ] 12:56 PST | martyg | Print NewsWell a new Flashback console that is. Atari is now taking pre-orders for the Atari Flashback 2+ on it's website, and includes a free t-shirt when you do the $5 pre-order. The console features the new "old" Atari fuji that Atari has now switched to (not shown on the description page), and a block of new sports games from the Realsports series and others. The box and pack-in manual have been completely redone as well (by yours truly) to go with the new launch.
It's expected to hit retailers in limited amounts in March as well.

Elite 25th Anniversary Site[ Comment ] 7:33 PST | jrhunt | Print NewsWe didn't mention it at the time, but in September, Elite - arguably the first true 3D game and a pioneer of the open-world mechanics that would come to drive modern gaming - celebrated its 25th Anniversary in September.
Now, Frontier Developments, the current home of Elite co-creator David Braben, have launched a site celebrating the success of Elite over the years. There are desktop images, a place to share memories of the game, and even a video message from the man himself!
I recently took a look at the few times in gaming history in which movie-to-game translations actually worked out. It seems that more and more, motion pictures have video game tie-ins, and it's obvious the majority of them are of dubious quality. Despite the frequency of movie-to-game adaptations, there are some instances in the past where certain films seemed like they had all the makings of a fantastic game, but none were ever developed (or the ones that did get made were atrocities). Here are some of the biggest "could haves" from the last few decades:
The original Duke Nukem 3D is a game that never gets bored. Even you've finished it 3, 30 or 300 times you'll never get enough of the good ol' Duke - you know it and we know it. But if you'd like to something a little bit different, the Duke Nukem community has prepared couple great modifications - some bring you more of the Duke-gameplay and some make it even better (yeah, right). Below you'll find the spotlight on couple cool Duke Nukem 3D mods!
This weekend Ground Control + Expansion and Ground Control 2 are available in a bundle for only $8.38. Over the past 12 months we've managed to achieve many goals that brought us closer to making GOG.com the ultimate place for all classic PC games fans. Deals signed, games released and additional materials made required from us many hours spent in front of our computers, gallons of tea and coffee drank and hundreds of sandwiches eaten, but it was all worth the final result. On the specially designed page you'll see some statistics that we'd like to share with you. Thank you for an amazing year one! We couldn't have done all this without you - our fans!

There are two worlds...
One we know as our world, a world of science and logic and stark reality.
The other world lies behind the veil of sleep; an Arcadian realm of magic and chaos, a realm where dreams may come true. Imagine being able to travel between these two worlds, between Stark and Arcadia.
Imagine being able to Shift between realities as easily as stepping through a doorway. In The Longest Journey, you can. And in order to save the precious Balance between worlds, between order and chaos, between science and magic, you must.
Murder Death Kill Steam[ Comment ] 10:55 PST | apache | Print NewsBoth MDK and MDK 2 are on sale at Steam today. Shiny, as you might recall, made the first game. While BioWare crafted the second. Both are excellent!
They have a bundled edition for sale as well, which is 10% off.
Question by dpolsrod: Before "Chaos Happens" was developed, have you planned an official 4th Simon game that would continue the story from Simon 3D?
Well - I'm sure most of you heard that Simon 3D was not really Simon 3 (at least in our eyes). We had worked on and got a long way with Simon 3 (in 2D) before Simon 3D was even concieved. We just couldn't find a way to get it published without making the switch. Personally I'd rather forget Simon 3D ever happened and continue after Simon 2. The original ideas we had for 3 made a lot more sense for the story and characters than what we ended up with.
We've teamed up with Mike and Simon Woodroffe, the creators of the awesome Simon the Sorcerer and decided to ask you for some questions concerning the adventures of the teenage sorcerer. Here's your chance to find out the answers to questions you've always wanted to ask. We're gathering your inquiries at users-at-gog.com and in the comments until Monday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. From all your questions we'll pick 10 which we find most interesting and ask them to Mike and Simon. The full Q&A will be posted on GOG.com as soon as we receive all the answers.
